Re: DYI Civic Ex 99 Cold air installation.
Time:
About 1 hour of work.
Tools:
Phillips screwdriver
Teeth screwdriver (correct?)
10mm wrench
10mm bolt spanner
1. Make sure the car is cool and the negative battery terminal is disconnected.
2. 2- Remove the bolts from both side of bumper with the phillips screwdriver.
3- Remove the bolts under the bumper with the 10mm wrench.
4- Carefully remove the bumper presses with a little teeth screwdriver. They broke easily. Remove the bumper.
5- Disconnect the Intake Temperature Sensor and the Oil Return Tube. Remove the filter box. Remove the bolt that fixes the intake tube and resonator box.
6- Remove the piece of plastic that stops the mud (Mud flap, sort of). The picture speaks for it self.
7-Remove the tube and resonator box. Be careful not to broke the fixes.
8- Put the rubber lining in the intake hole as shown below.
9- Tighten the armbands. Plug the IAT and the ORT.
10- Attach the filter and tight the armband.
11- Look around and be sure not to miss place any tool or so inside the engine compartment. Reconnect the battery terminal. Test the engine. here it got a deep sound and quicker response.
12- Replace the bumper. And store the original parts.

Also, I recommend buying a K&N or an AEM filter. They've been emission tested and are road legal in every state except CA.

Ok thanks, this looks like it will work, what about the l bracket and the straight braket that came with it?

Those brackets are used to help hold the intake in place. Really, unless I was staring down into the engine bay of your car, I don't think I could tell you exactly where they go. But I can tell you this much. They'll attach to the pipe and then you'll have to use one of the holes and one of the old bolts that were holding your old system in place.
Re: DYI Civic Ex 99 Cold air installation.
So all went well and it runs great!! before my max rev out was at around 5000rpm and its now 7000rpm!
performance while certainally not sports car like has improved on it.
There doesnt seem to be any way to attach the brackets to the piping?? so im at a loss on that one. thanks for all your help. This is my last project for the time being. I ship out for boot camp for 8 months, but my father inlaw will repaint it at his shop and look for 16 inch rims.

Re: DYI Civic Ex 99 Cold air installation.
Glad everything worked out for you.
As for the brackets, idk what to tell you. I've installed quiet few intake systems, both CAI and RAI, and all of the pipes already had the brackets attack to the piping. Then again, I've only installed AEM pipes, and AEM may have just taken the time to intall the brackets for me.
If the pip seems pretty sturdy you should be fine.
If you ever get a chance, or you have any more questions, drop by.
Good luck.
